Description:
A skill based workshop on hand building and pottery was organized by
Devbhoomi Sahodaya School Complex held at Universal Convent Senior
Secondary School on Feb 19, 2022. Our school was represented by Kanushka
Joshi, 11 A and Brahmansh Bora, 11 D along with Ms. Smita Pant. The aim of the
workshop was to develop an interest in students towards pottery making. Our
trainees for the workshop were Ms. Monika Tripathi and Mr. Vinay Asthana.
Students were instructed and guided on how to make pots using clay. The main
technique that were used were pinching, slab building and coiling. The first
activity was to make pots and vessels using coiling technique. The students were to
make circular loops and then stack them over the base. The students then added
their own creativity. Another interesting activity was to make clay pots using
wheel thrown pottery technique. Wheel throwing is the process of shaping and
forming clay into usable shapes on the potter’s lathe (pottery wheel). Students as
well as teachers were guided and then invited to make pots or other shapes on
pottery wheel. It was an amazing experience and an enjoyable session.
